Biography

George Whitman Peckham was born in mid-December of 1836 at Newport, Rhode Island, a son of Jeremiah and Mary Ann Peckham. A bootworker, he married first, in 1853, Betsey Ann Barrows -- a daughter of Sabin & Harriet Barrows born at Oakham, Massachusetts, in 1837; widowed by Betsey Ann's death from consumption on July 4th, 1865, he married second, in 1867, Lucina Darling, a daughter born in 1840 to Samuel Darling and a spouse whose name does not appear in Lucina's marriage record.

George died at Medway on the last day of January, 1917, survived by Lucina, who died in November of 1919. Both are buried in West Medway's Evergreen Cemetery.
