Harriett was born on March 12, 1861 in MS. She was the daughter of Dixon Gibbs and Ellen Haywood. She married Benjamin Carter Mathews. They had 3 children. She passed away on March 29, 1933 in TX at age 72. She was buried in Bethel Cemetery in Appleby, TX.
