Biography

Karam Chand was a centenarian, living to age 110.

Karam and his wife Kartari were married for 90 years! It is the longest marriage on record.

They were both born in Punjab. They married there in 1925. It was an arranged marriage, he was 20 years old and she was 13.

They moved to Bradford, England in the 1960s. They had 8 children, 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

They said these three things are their secret for a happy marriage: 1) Keeping no secrets from each other. 2) Trying very hard not to argue. 3) Spending as many days as possible with family.

Paul, their youngest son, explains further, "I believe my parents have had such a long marriage because they have had a happy and stress-free one. In all my years with them, I have never seen them argue and not once have I seen them become angry with each other...we are all very proud of them."
