" Mortogh died in AD. 1343 and was succeeded [as King of Thomond] by his son Mahon Moinmoy, who died in 1367 [some sources says 1369] and was the ancestor of the Thomond and Inchiquin branches of the family. [Mahon's] brother Turlogh Mael (The Bald) succeeded him, who was the ancestor of the Waterford O’Briens. [Turlogh Mael] was deposed in AD. 1370 in favour of his nephew Brian Cathan Aonagh; very little information is given of [Brian] by the Annalists (Annals of the Four Masters), and he died in AD. 1399. Brian Catha’s successor was his brother Conor (son of Mahon Moinmoy ... from [Conor] descend the “Pobblebrien and Ahelow O’Briens” also called “Carrigogunnell O’Briens”. From Conor’s younger brother, Teige Baccach, descend the “O’Briens of Ballyardan”. [Conor] was succeeded in AD. 1426 by his nephew Teige na Glamore, who died in AD. 1444."

A bit of family context:

Mahon was also the father of Conor O'Brien (d.1426) who headed the Carigogonel / Carrigogunell branch. Conor's son was Brian Duff, according to the O'Brien pedigree (see image). Brian Duff's great-granddaughter Maud/Mor O'Brien married John FitzThomas Fitzgerald (1460-1536), de facto 12th Earl of Desmond (see image). They in turn were the grandparents of "arch-traitor" and instigator of the Desmond Rebellions, James FitzMaurice Fitzgerald (1530-1579).

O'brien-2703 and Thomond-3 appear to represent the same person because: same name, same son, mine not entered yet, same time frame, same title, same location
