A biography of Judge Judson Canfield can be found in the 1842 text by Charles Sedgwick, A history of the town of Sharon, Litchfield County, Conn., from its first settlement. :
Canfield, Hon. Judson was a son of Col. Samuel Canfield, of New Milford, and a nephew of Hon. John Canfield. He graduated at Yale College in 1782. He came to Sharon in 1787, and commenced the practice of law. He built the house now occupied by Nathaniel Berry and lived there. He was a member of the house of representatives at seventeen sessions, and for several years a member of the council. He was also a judge of the court of common pleas. He left Sharon in 1815, and removed to the state of Ohio, where he died in 1889, at the age of more than eighty years. [1]
