Biography
Ephraim William, son of John and Maria Horney, was baptised at St Andrew, Great Dunham on 13 December 1829.[1] The baptism record for his older sister Emily has Maria's maiden name as Claxon.[2]
At the 1841 census he was a schoolboy in nearby Little Fransham.[3]
Ephraim died soon after his sixteenth birthday and was buried at Great Dunham on 23 December 1845.[4]
Research Notes
John Horney married Maria Huggins at Great Dunham on 22 October 1824. One of the witnesses was William Claxton.[5]
Maria Whiten, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (née Claxton) Huggins, was baptised at Beeston in 1805.[6]
John, Maria and five of their children were living in Great Dunham at the 1841 census. John was about 40, and Maria about 35[7]
Better information comes from the 1851 census, at which time John was 58 born in Great Dunham, Maria was 46 from Beeston.[8] The births of the younger children were registered with a mother's maiden name of Huggins.
John, son of J. and Rose (née Cliffin) Horney, was baptised at Great Dunham in 1792.[9] He was the bother of Miles and Richard.
