John Lyman Fritz was born 21 Sep 1919 in Chelsea, Bethel Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USA. He was the son of William Earl Fritz and Sarah Lila Chandler. He had an older brother William Earl Fritz.

1920s

On 5 Jan 1920, John L Fritz (3m) lived on Concord Road in Bethel Township with his father William E (23), mother Sarah L (23), and brother William E (1y 3m). They rented their home. William Sr worked as a house carpenter. [1]

On 26 Aug 1921, his brother George Ellsworth Fritz was born in Chelsea, Bethel Township. [2]

1930s

On 11/12 Apr 1930, John L Fritz (10) lived at 120 Concord Road in Bethel Township with his father William E (33), mother Sara L (33), and two brothers William E (11) and George E (8). Their owned home was valued at $4500. William Sr's age at first marriage was 21 and Sara was 20. William Sr worked as an automobile laborer. [3]

William worked as a public construction carpenter; William Earl and John Lyman worked as garage mechanics; Ellsworth worked as a farm laborer. [4]

On 16 Oct 1940, John Lymom Fritz (21) resided at Chester RD#1 in Chelsea. He had been born 21 Sep 1919 in Chelsea and was a US citizen. His contact person was his mother Mrs Sarah Fritz of Chester RD#1 in Chelsea. He was employed by Cornwall Motor of E 4th Street in Chester. He was white, 5'6", 140 pounds, with blue eyes, blond hair, and a light complexion. He signed the World War II draft registration at Media, Delaware County. [5]

On 2 Apr 1941, John L Fritz entered active US military service with the Army in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. His residence had been RD1 in Chelsea, Delaware County. He had completed three years of high school and his civil occupation had been semiskilled mechanics and repairmen of motor vehicles. He was single, born 1919, a US citizen, 65" and 129 pounds.. His military branch was immaterial - warrant officers and was an enlisted man. He had completed the selective service registration in Media. [6] [7]

On 17 Dec 1941, John Fritz began foreign military service until 14 May 1943. [6]

On 15 May 1943, John Fritz began domestic military service until 17 Mar 1945. [6]

On 18 May 1945, John Fritz began foreign military service until Oct 25th. [6]

On 26 Oct 1945, John Fritz began domestic military service until Nov 2nd. [6]

On 2 Nov 1945, John Fritz was separated from active military service at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

On 15 Aug 1947, John T Fritz married Gertrude E Ford in Delaware County. Gertrude was born 15 Oct 1925 in Pennsylvania. [6] this is likely their marriage record, although I haven't confirmed her last name. The timing and location of the marriage fits. Gertrude Ford was the daughter of Henry/Harry L and Katherine Williams Ford. They lived in Middletown, Delaware county in 1930 and 1940. [8]

1950s

Feb 1950, John L Fritz lived at 132 Virginia Avenue in Brookhaven, Delaware County. His wife was Gertrude F Fritz. He had no minor-aged children. His mother, Mrs Sarah Fritz, resided at 103 E 22nd Street in Chester. His father, William Earl Fritz, resided at Chester RD1 in Delaware County. [6]

On 28 Jul 1956, his brother William E Fritz Jr married Miss Veronica Mary Rafter. Veronica was the daughter of Michael J Rafter and had attended Sacred Heart High School. The announcement was published in her hometown of Vineland, New Jersey on Jul 23rd. [9]

1970s

Jan 1976, his father William Fritz (79) died in Delaware County. [10]

1980s

1981, his mother Sarah Chandler Fritz died. She was buried at Edgewood Memorial Park. [11]

1990s

In the early 1990s, John L Fritz resided at 64 Letitia Lane in Media. [12]

On 7 Feb 1994, John L Fritz (74) died in Media. He had been born in Chelsea. He resided in Media. His obituary was published by The Philadelphia Inquirer on Feb 9th. He was buried at Middletown Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Elwyn, Delaware County. He served as S Sgt for the US Army during World War II. [13] [14] [15]
