Francis, son of William Bothwell, was made a Burgess of Edinburgh on 28th March 1515.[1]
Katherine Bellenden's second husband, she his second wife. He was a Burgess of Edinburgh[2] and Provost in 1535. He was later appointed a Lord of Session.[3]
On 10th July 1529 his future wife Katherine Bellenden was still married to her first husband as per a charter signed on that date. Francis Bothwell, Baillie of Edinburgh, is the second witness.[4]
He was dead before 12 January 1537/8 when his spouse Katherine was already married to her third husband.[5]
