Biography

Birth

Julia P. Briggs was the daughter of Hiram W. Briggs and Bethiah W. (Pray) Briggs of Livermore, Maine,^[1] with whom she was living at Livermore in 1860 at the age of 6.^[2]

Marriage

Julia P. Briggs married John Herbert Randall at Minneapolis, Minnesota, on 17 Jul 1877.^[3]

Death

Julia (Briggs) Randall died, probably at Minneapolis, Minnesota, and probably on 25 Jun 1893. See the Research Note below.

Research Note

A transcribed death record in the Minnesota Deaths and Burials database says that Julia (Briggs) Randall died in Hennepin County, Minnesota, on 25 Jan 1887, with her age at her death recorded (incorrectly) as 39.^[4] The grave marker of Julia B. Randall at the Lakewood Cemetery, located next to that of her husband John H. Randall, is inscribed with the dates 1853-1893, and her FindAGrave memorial says, without citing a source, that she died on 25 Jan 1893.^[5] Given the discrepancy in her age at her death in the transcription from the Minnesota Deaths and Burials database and the fact that an age of 39 is consistent with the dates shown on the grave marker, it is likely that she died in 1893. The January date is also questionable; in the 1900 Census, enumerated on 15 Jun 1900, her husband John Randall is shown with a daughter, Julia Randall, whose birth date is shown as June 1893, and whose age was originally entered as 7, and then corrected to 6. Given all the evidence, the most likely scenario is that Julia (Briggs) Randall died as a result of the birth of her daughter Julia on or about 25 Jun 1893.
