~Published in The News-Messenger on February 4, 2009 Phyllis M. Koser, 84, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Bellevue Hospital. She was born June 9, 1924 in Rockford, Illinois to the late Louis and Iola (Perry) Mitchell. Phyllis was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue. She had a passion for dancing, especially ballroom and square dancing.
She had taught dance lessons at Arthur Murray's in Sandusky. She was a great cook, loved to spend time with her family, and enjoyed her many dogs over the years. She married Donald Koser on March 15, 1958 and he survives in Bellevue. She is also survived by her son, Carl (Cherie) Navarro of Dunbridge, Ohio; her daughter, Judy (Mark) Dyson of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; her brother Robert Nesmith of Lee's Summit, Missouri; her sister Millie Turkel of California; her sister Fran of Beloit, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Donald's siblings: Louis Koser of Seattle, Washington; Kate (George) Peters of Clyde; Dick (Nancy) Koser of Bellevue; Betty (Charles) Schaefer of Buxton, Maine; Nancy (Henry) Huff of Kelliher, Minnesota. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy; her daughter, Carla; her brothers, Eddie, Ken, Frank; and her sister, Betty.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. at the Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia Street, Bellevue. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue with the Rev. Karen Kaye officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choosing.
