Vember was born in 1910. He was the son of James Taylor and Winnie Petty. He passed away in 1988. He was in the U S Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. He remained in the U S Air Force after WWII. He served in Korea and Germany in addition to stateside postings.
Vember was born in the North Norton community in Runnels County, February 8, 1910. In the 1910 census Vember (age 0) was in the household of his parents, James A and Winnie Taylor in Justice Precinct 4, Runnels, Texas, United States. Also in the household was Mary Petty, his maternal great-grandmother and Winnie's grandmother.[1]
In the 1920 census Vember (age 10) was the grandchild of Sam Petty in Runnels, Texas, United States.[2]

Before Vember joined the Army, he worked at the local newspaper, the Ballinger Ledger as a typesetter. Spelling, and the ability to read a mirror image of text were requirements.
While his younger sisters, Vera and Velma, were attending junior college, Vember rode his motorcycle to visit them about 1930.
Vember was in a military record in June 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The monthly Roster of the 6th Service Squadron indicates Private Vember D Taylor was assigned to, and joined, the squadron 22 June 1931.[3]
Vember returned to the squadron from furlough on October 5 as reported in the 31 October 1932 roster.[4]
Vember was a private in the military record on 28 February 1935 in United States.[5]
Promotions in the peacetime army were very slow. After 4 years, Vember was promoted from private to PFC.
Vember was a PFC in the military record on 31 December 1935 in Randolph Field.[6]
Vember was a PFC in the military record 31 August 1936 in Randolph Field.[7]
PFC Vember D Taylor returned to duty from furlough October 9 as recorded 31 October 1937 in the monthly roster of troops, HQ & HQ Sq, A. C. P. F. S., Randolph Field, Texas.[8]
Vember married Miss Anna Barbara Steinmetz on 18 July 1939 in Guadalupe, Guadalupe, Texas, United States.[9]
In the 1940 census Dixon (age 30) was the married head of household in Fox Hill, Elizabeth City, Virginia, United States.[10]
In the 1950 census Vember (age 40), Captain, was the married head of household in Clinton, Macomb, Michigan, United States.[11]
