Donald was baptised in Lochbroom, Scottish Highlands in 1875. [1] It was common for birth years to shift forward for 19th century births with no documentation in hand.
The 1881 Scottish Census shows Donald living in Monkcastle House, Lochbroom, with his family and four servants[2].
