Biography
Ellen was born about 1805 in Ashton in Makerfield, Lancashire, England. She had at least 3 children out of wedlock and this was noted in the parish registers: Isaac Lowe in 1832, Tamar Lowe in 1833 and Esau Lowe in 1835.
Isaac died in 1832 and Esau died in 1840 but in 1841, Ellen Lowe age 35 and daughter Tamar Lowe age 7, were with John and Betty Birchall and family:

Research Notes
Even though little Isaac and his sister Tamar and brother Esau were all born with the surname Lowe, illegitimate children of Ellen Lowe, at the boys' deaths and at Tamar's marriage, they have the surname Littler.
Their mother appeared as Ellen Lowe in all their baptisms and in the 1841 Census but she was listed as Ellen Littler in 1832 and 1835 at the boys' burials.
NO marriage of an Ellen to anyone named Littler has been located in the Lancashire parish records.
