Isabella Jane Duncan, daughter of Maria/Marie (Wiley/Wylie) and John Duncan, was born on August 29, 1877 in Toronto Gore Township, Ontario, Canada.[1][2][3] Her mother was born in England and her father was born in Scotland and was a peddler at the time.[1][4]
Isabella had several siblings: Frederic(k) W., James, Maria, Mary L., Hannah, and John.[4][5] As of the Census, dated April 27, 1891, Isabella appeared to be living in the household of her grandfather, George Wiley, 64, along with:
Hannah Wiley, 73, George's wife
George Wiley, 33, George's son
Frederick Duncan, 20, Isabella's brother, recorded as domestic help
John Duncan, 8, Isabella's younger brother
Isabella was a resident of Chinguacousy Township when she married Charles Albert Hollingshead, 27, a farmer and resident of Vaughan Township on April 3, 1901 in Brampton, Ontario.[2][3] Charles was the son of Elizabeth (Crosson) and William Hollingshead.[2] Their marriage was witnessed by Christopher Thompson of Woodbridge and Mary L. Duncan of Chinguacousy, and solemnized by William Hall.[2] Charles died in 1953.[3]
Isabella died on October 13, 1954 and was buried with her husband in Nashville Cemetery in Kleinburg, Ontario.[3]
Her father may have died in 1892, though her brother, John, was born more than 9 months after the death date of their father on the gravestone that appears to suggest this.[6]
