Biography

John D Bell was born 29 September 1843 at Hartville, Wright County, Missouri, United States of America (USA).[1] He was a child of Alfred Bell and Hannah Emerine McHolland.[2][3][4] He lived with his parents on a farm at Sni-A-Bar Township, Jackson County, Missouri in 1850.[3] In 1860, they lived at Harrisonville, Cass County, Missouri.[4]

John married Ella (Coffey) Bell (1858-1918) on 8 April 1872 in the home of Charles Holmes at Breckenbridge, Caldwell County, Missouri, USA.[5]

In 1880, John and family lived in Noraville, Grant Precinct, Richardson County, Nebraska, USA, where John was a telegraph operator.[6]

In 1885, they lived in Scammonville, Mineral Township, Cherokee County, Kansas, USA, after some time in Texas, USA.[7]

By 1895, the family had moved to Arcadia, Crawford County, Kansas.[8] They continued in Arcadia in 1900,[9] 1905,[10] and 1910, and John worked as a stationary engineer.[11]

In 1919, John lived at 104½ South Broadway, Pittsburg, Crawford County, Kansas.[12]

At age 79, John travelled to and spent a couple months in the Territory of Hawaii. He sailed from San Francisco, California, USA on 19 July 1922 aboard the S.S. Manoa, and arrived at Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii, USA on 26 July 1922.[1] He sailed from Honolulu on 4 October 1922 aboard the S.S. Maui,[13] and arrived at San Francisco on 10 October 1922.[14]

John D. Bell died 12 August 1925 in Oakland, Alameda County, California.[15][16]
