Biography

George Wilson Wald was the second child and second son of David Wald and Elizabeth Wilson. He was born at Yankalilla⁠^[1] on 17 July 1856 and died of consumption at Semaphore⁠^[2] on 29 March 1877, at the age of 20. He was buried in the Cheltenham Cemetery on 1 April 1877.

The Adelaide Observer, 26 July 1856:⁠^[3]

On the 17th inst., at Houton Farm, Yankalilla, Mrs D. Wald, of a son.

The South Australia Advertiser, 2 April 1877:⁠^[4]

WALD—On the 29th March, at the Semaphore, of consumption, George Wilson, second son of David Wald, in the 21st year of his age.

The Evening Journal, 31 March 1877:⁠^[5]

THE Friends of Mr. D. WALD are respectfully informed that the Remains of his late SON, GEORGE WILSON, will be removed from his Residence, Semaphore, Lefevre's Peninsula, To-morrow (Sunday), April 1, at 3 o'clock, for interment in the Port Adelaide Suburban Cemetery, Cheltenham,
              J. C. & G. E. HADDY.
