Biography
Elizabeth was born in 1778. She is the daughter of Josiah Whitman and Sarah Sturtevant.
In 1792, Betsey above the age of 14 years, made the choice of Beza Hayward of Bridgewater to be the guardian of her estate.[1] In 1799, Betsey and her husband, Thomas Hawes signed a receipt for her estate from her guardian Beza Hayward.[2]
