Biography

Thomas Vernon baptised 8th September 1886 at St Barnabas Birmingham (i) ^[1]. youngest child of four born to James Normancourt Vernon and Dora Harriet Kirby . The 1891 census shows Thomas , his parents and siblings living in Stour Street, which is just west of central Birmingham in the Ladywood district. ^[2].

1901: aged 14, employed as an errand boy living with his parents in Ladywood ^[3].

1902: aged 16, death of his mother Dora Harriet Vernon. ^[4]

1905: age 19, death of his father James Normancourt Vernon aged 48. ^[5].

1911: aged 24, occupation 'Carter', boarding in Aston Birmingham (ii), his future wife Emily is also boarding at the same address. ^[6].

1913 May 11: aged 26 occupation Baker, marries Emily Frankham occupation 'Press Worker,, at St James the Less Church' (iii) , Ashted Birmingham, ^[7].

1950: aged 63, death registration , Birmingham. ^[8].

Notes

(i) St Barnabas, Ryland Street Birmingham, built 1860 demolished a hundred years later ^[9]

(ii) 2021: possibly Windsor Street in the Aston area of Birmingham, the area where Thomas and Emily Frankham living when married - may have been at same address in 1911.

(iii) St James the Less, church built 1780, struck by bomb in second world war, demolished 1956. ^[10]
