Thomas Turberville, son of James Turberville and Margaret Gamage of Coyty Castle, [1] was born about 1510 in Llantwit Major, Glamorgan, Wales.
In 1551, Robert Stradling and James Turberville made a prenuptial settlement committing their children, Elizabeth Stradling and Thomas Turberville, to marriage. This involved "Lands of James Turbill; in Llanmaes, Eglwys Brewis, Llanishen, Kenfig and Llantwit-juxta-Neath; and of lands in Llantwit Major. Excepting ‘the marye’, reserved to Anne Carne (wife of James Turbill), for life and widowhood." [2]
Elizabeth Stradling and Thomas Turberville of Llantwit Major, were married [3] in 1570 via "Bond taken at Landaf, with condition that James Turbyll, esq., shall fulfil the articles of an Indenture made between him and Robert Stradling, concerning a marriage to be solemnised between Thomas Turbyll, son of the said James, and Elizabeth Stradling, daughter of the said Robert." [4]
