Harry Wilson was born around Liverpool, England, about 1835. He came to New Zealand around 1856. ^{[1] [2]}

Harry Wilson married Emily Mary Armstrong by registrar on 24 January 1876 in Havelock, New Zealand. Harry lived in Blenheim at this time, and Emily was the youngest daughter of Mr. John Armstrong of Nelson. ^{[3] [4]}

The couple had become estranged by 1894 if not earlier; with Harry living at Takapau, Hawkes Bay in 1896. He was a carpenter. ^[5] He may even have been at Awatoto, Napier by 1893. ^[6]

He passed away on 18 or 19 October 1916, when his hut at Takapau burned to the ground. ^{[1] [7] [8] [9]}
