Nothing is known of the ancestry of Daniel Dolley. The Censues from 1850 through 1870 show him as born in Maine.[1][2][3] His age at his death from his gravestone computes to a birth date on or about 21 Feb 1793; his FindAGrave memorial says he was born in Cumberland County, Maine, on 23 Feb 1793, but it cites no evidence.[4]
Marriage
Daniel Dolley married Sarah Foster at Weld, Maine, on 9 Apr 1820.[5]
Residences
In 1830, Daniel and Sarah Dolley were living at Weld, Maine, with five children.[6] By 1840, Daniel and Sarah Dolley has moved to Livermore, Maine, and their household included 10 children.[7] They were presumably still at Livermore in 1846, when they buried their 12-year-old daughter Roxana at the Lamb Cemetery there.[8] By 1850, they had moved to McKean County, Pennsylvania, and were living there in a household headed by their son Enoch, 24, along with seven other children, aged 7 to 23.[1] Daniel and Sarah were living in McKean County alone, next to their son Izates and his family, in 1860.[2] Sarah died in 1866,[9] and by 1870 Daniel had moved back to Maine and was living at Jay with his widowed daughter Christiana Goding, and he was shown ijn the Census as blind.[3]
Death
According to his gravestone at the Port Allegany Cemetery in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania, Daniel Dolley died on 8 May 1876, at the age of 83 years, 2 months, 15 days.[4] He probably died at Jay, Maine, where he was living in 1870.[3]
