Humphrey was born in 1642 and christened the same year at All Saints, Thorpe Malsor, Northamptonshire[1]. He was the son of John Maunsell and Susanna Phipps.
In 1661, Humphrey was admitted to King's college, Cambridge University and matriculated at Easter in 1663. He received a BA in 1666/7 and an MA in 1670. He was made a Fellow of the college in 1665[?]. On 24 September 1671, he was ordained a deacon by Bishop Benjamin Laney at Ely, Cambridge and became chaplain to Viscount Conway[2][3].
He passed away in early 1677/78 in France. His will dated 6 January 1677/78, was probated in London on 14 April 1678 by his father John Maunsell, as principal legatee. The will appears to have been a letter written at Montpellier, France, to his father, where he mentions having a consumptive cough and wants to make his wishes known to his family. In the letter he mentions his brothers Henry, Blundell, Robert (and his wife), Thomas and Henry; and his sisters Wheelowes, Courtman, Hill and Blundell and their husbands[4][5].
