Biography

Katherine was born in or after 1518, when her mother's first husband died. She was the daughter of William Brereton and Eleanor Brereton.

On 18 April, 1560, Dame Katheryn Brereton, widow, late wife of Sir Roger Brereton Kt, deceased, sometime wife of Edward Fulleshurst esq, leased for her life to Rauf Alexander, son of John Alexander of the Wiche Malbank, 5 pastures in Edlaston called the browne hills now/late in the tenure of the said Rauf Alexander, at an annual rent of 28/-, for consideration of £13-6-8.[1]

On 24 December, 1563, Robert Fulleshurst of Crue esq, leased for 101 years to Robert Goddyar of the Wiche Malbanke, yeoman, 1 lodge standing in a pasture in Edlaston called Evotts croftes, now divided in 2, in the occupation of the said Robert Goddyar, to hold to the said Robert Goddyar, from the decease of Dame Katheryn Brereton, widow, late wife of Sir Roger Brereton Kt, deceased, and sometime wife of Edward Fulleshurst esq., also deceased, uncle of the said Robert, at an annual rent of 15/-.Cons. £13-10-0.[2]
