When Edward "Ed" "Colonel" York was born in 1825 in Yarmouth Centre, Ontario, Canada, his father, William, was 41 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 33. He married Mary Northcott in 1846 in Ontario, Canada. They had four children in 13 years. He died on April 18, 1900, in Oxford, Ontario, Canada, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried in Delmer, Ontario, Canada.
