Isaac was born in 1843. He was the son of Isaac Grubb and Margaret McCauley. He was a Sgt in the Co B, 43rd Regt, PA Vol, 1st Field Artillery and was killed in action on 2 April 1865 in Petersburg, Virginia, in a grueling Civil War siege.[2] He is buried in the Bethel Church Cemetery in Enon Valley, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. [1]His name, with many other names, is on a memorial stone in another cemetery as well.

1st Artillery, (43rd Regiment), State Color. Organized as part of the Reserve Corps, the 1st Artillery was mustered into service in June 1861, and provided a state color in September 1861. The regiment was composed of men from Franklin, Lawrence, Philadelphia, York, Schuylkill, Susquehanna, Montour, Indiana, Luzerne, and Pennsylvania counties. [3]
