Biography

Alexander was born about 1510 son to John Forbes of Brux and his wife Mary Gordon.

In 1531 Alexander was granted sasine of the barony of Brux and the lands of Sonahard and paid for eight years for relief.

At Edinburgh on 10 Feb 1546/47 John Forbes fiar of Brux granted liferent of the lands of Sonahard to his parents Alexander Forbes of Brux and Marjory Forbes.^[1]

About 1530 Alexander married Marjory Forbes daughter of John, the 6th Lord Forbes, and his wife Christian Lundie. by whom he had four sons and three daughters : ^[2]

1. John, the 5th Laird Red Laird, married a daughter of Alexander Forbes, 5th of Pitsligo, b:, whom he had six sons:
2. William of Savoch, who married (r) the relict of David Gordon , and 2) a daughter of Keith of Clackrilch, d.s.p.
3. Duncan of Byth, married a Turing of Foveran.
4. Janet, married William Strachan of Glenkindie-- According to Lumsden They had a daughter who married the laird of Glenkindie. She was born about 1550 and thus was most likely to be his granddaughter to John.
5. -- married Mr. Walter "Wilson.
6. -- married John Burnett, burgess of Aberdeen.
