Biography

Robert, son of Charles Emanuel Roper and Jane Blanchard Douglas,^[1] was born in Prince Edward Island on 9 May 1868.^[2] The family moved from North River-Cornwall, PEI to Moncton, New Brunswick than to Victoria, BC sometime between 1881 and 1890.

Robert married Cora Ella Topping on 1 January 1900 in Walworth, Wisconsin.^[1]

The children of Robert and Cora were:

• Margaret Ruth Roper, born on 4 March 1901^[3]
• Ida Marie Roper, born on 29 Sep 1904^[4]
• Paul Roper, born in Jun 1907^[5]
• Joy Roper, born in Jun 1908^[5][6]
• Douglas Roper, born about 1911.

In 1910, they were living in Delavan, Walworth, Wisconsin.^[7]

In 1911, their family was living in Victoria District, Alberta.^[5]

Robert Hebert Roper became a minister in the Presbyterian church.

His first wife, Cora died October 30, 1922 in Vancouver, British Columbia.^[8]

Robert Herbert Roper at age 60 married for the second time to Catherine Isabella (nee MacLeod) MacKeen age 50.^[9]

Catherine Isabella MacLeod was born in Hartsville, Prince Edward Island. Her parents were William MacLeod (1838-1917) born at Isle of Skye, Scotland and Isabella 'Belle' MacLeod (-1935) and Catherine's mother was born in Prince Edward Island. Catherine Isabella MacLeod had one sister and six brothers. The family moved to Vancouver in 1910.

Robert was a Minister of the Gospel.^[2]

He died on 4 June 1952, in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, at the age of 84, and was buried in Greater Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.^[2]
