Biography

Jane Fallon was of Runnimead,^[1] and sister to Edmund Fallon,^[2] this would make her daughter to Bryan Fallon and Mary Irwin.^[3]

She married Nicholas Ffrench,^[1] confirmed children of theirs are:

1. Patrick, who married Sally Mapother in 1769^[4]
2. Edmund, Catholic Bishop of Elphin,^[1] he died 27th April 1810^[5]
3. Christopher, who married Harriet McDonnell and died in 1830
4. Eleanor, who married Walter Balfe in June 1769^[6][7][8]
5. Mary, who married Edmund Hanly before 1785^[9][10].

Burke's Landed Gentry of 1912 states that Walter Balfe married Jane daughter of Nicholas French.^[3] Given that Walter's older children were born before 1769 it's likely that an older sister Jane was his first wife.

Her husband's will of 1778 was proved in 1782, this names wife Jane and daughter Mary.^[9]

Jane was still alive in 1785.^[10]
