Biography
William was born in 1835. He was baptised on 23 August in Kempsford by parents Rachel and William. [1]
William Hayward and Matilda Matthews married in 1860. Their marriage was registered in Malmesbury. [2] William lived in Keynsham, he was a labourer, as was his father William and Matilda's father Samuel. [3] The couple had 8 children.
Research Note
There is another baptism record in Kempsford on 3 February 1833 with parents William and Susanna.
The William who married Matilda was the son of William, a labourer and he could have been the William married to Rachel or Susanna. Census records indicate he was born in 1833/1834 which would point to mother Susanna rather than Rachel.
