Biography

Francis was born before 1762. He came to Nova Scotia in 1784.^[1] In 1785 he received a grant of 250 acres at Chedebucto (Guysborough Township) in Sydney County (now called Guysborough County) ^[2][3]

From 1792-1795 he is listed at Guysborough, Sydney (now Guysborough) County, Nova Scotia.^[4][5][6][7]

He married Margaret Campbell in 1808, and they had the following children: Elizabeth (b. 14 May 1809)^[8], John Whitman (b. 19 May 1811)^[9], and Warburton (b. 7 Jan 1814))^[10]. Francis died in 1814^[11] and his widow subsequently married George Whitman.
