Dudley Williams was born perhaps several years before 1771, the year his wife was born.
He married Mary Harris, possibly in Anson or Richmond County, North Carolina, some time after 1785. They moved to the part of North Carolina that became Tennessee, where they both died in Henderson County, after 1821, the year Henderson was formed from the Western District of Tennessee.[1][2]
One Dudley Williams received a North Carolina grant in consideration of military services, No. 1037 or 1437, difficult to read, on 26 May 1784 for 640 acres and entered 3 Aug 1818 by No. 20108 . . . Williams assigned the Warrant to John Davis, John C. McLemore and George W. Campbell . . . 150 acres to Davis and 75 acres each to MLemore and Campbell . . . survey dated 10 Aug 1818. State of Tennessee, No. 17578, Recorded 26 Aug 1822, page 835, frame 418 of 462.
Dudley assigned another 90 acres of the same Warrant to John Davis and John C. McLemore, waters of Blue Creek which empties into Tennessee River above the mouth of Duck River; survey dated 6 Aug 1818. State of Tennessee, No. 15084, recorded 24 Feb 1821, No. 987, frame 484 of 488.
A grant recorded 26 Aug 1822 at page 838, Dudley Williams assigned another 200 acres to John Davis, John C. McLemore and George W. Campbell; 200 to Davis, and 100 acres each to McLemore and Campbell, northeast side of Tennessee River in Humphreys County.
The above grants left 50 acres of the Warrant, which was then assigned to the same men, 25 acres to Davis and 12 1/2 acres each to McLemore and Campbell.
