Gus was born in 1892 at Weatherford, Texas.
He served in the military in WWI. His daughter Gusolyn found a diary Gus Hall wrote about his military days. He and (his brother) Cayle joined the Air Force in 1917, and worked as mechanics in San Antonio and California. They were both commissioned as 2nd lieutenants on 10-22-1918. [1] [2]
After the war he married Lucille T. Thompson, on 2 SEP 1923. [3]
They had one child (HALL):
Gus died on 21 OCT 1935 at Houston, Harris Co., Texas. [4] He died in a railroad-related fire, as the result of a terrible explosion of three gasoline tank cars. The fire started when gasoline came in contact with the tiny flame in his switchman's lantern. Gus was severely burned about the face and arms. [5] [6] He was buried in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, Harris Co., Texas. [5] [4]
