He was the second son of Standish Hartstonge and Elizabeth Jermy.
He was educated in Norfolk and entered Trinity College Dublin on 15 April 1673, aged 17. He went to Gaius College, Cambridge on 19 June 1676. Irish Bar 1680. Recorder of Kilkenny. [1]
He was MP for Kilkenny, 1605 and 1703.
He died in 1704 and was buried in St. Canice's Cathedral, Kilkenny. [2]
