Martha was born about 1815, probably in Ballylumford, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland.
In 1836 she married George Alexander a blacksmith from Drumgurland, Islandmagee in 1st Islandmagee Presbyterian Church. The witnesses were Samuel Ferres and John Gregg.[1]
In the 1901 census Martha was living alone in Drumgurland, Islandmagee[2] and she passed away there, aged 90 years, in 1905[3] and is interred in Ballypriormore Graveyard.[4]

Erected by Martha Yeates Alexander in memory of her beloved husband George Alexander who died 15 Mar 1887 aged 77 years. Also their son James who died Jun 1872 aged 18 years. Their son Robert who died at Africa 1886 aged 25 years. Their daughter Mary who died Nov 1886 aged 27 years. Also their son John Gregg who died at Irvine, Mar 1894 aged 56 years. The above-named Martha Yeates Alexander died 13 Jan 1905 aged 90 years.
