Biography

Edith Margaret Aitchison (1868-1962) was born 21 Dec 1868 in Edinburgh. She was the daughter of Charles Aitchison and Beatrice Cox. ^[1] In 1871, her 3 older sisters were staying with their grandmother in Lasswade, Midlothian but Edith may have gone back to India with her parents. In 1881, her father was on a furlough from his duties and the family was living at Manor Place, Edinburgh. ^[2]

By 1891, they had relocated to London and were living at Courtfield Gardens in Kensington. ^[3]

Her father died in 1896, shortly after they had moved to Oxford where they lived for some years. ^{[4] [5]}

Edith lived with her mother up until her death in 1927. She then went to live with her younger sister Winifred at 4 Northmoor Road, Oxford. ^[6]

Edith died there on the 27th July 1962 ^{[7] [8]}

and was buried in the family grave J1/44 at Wolvercote cemetery, near Oxford subsequently. ^[9]
