Biography
John was born in about 1565. He was the son of Henry Tolson.
He matriculated at Oriel College, Oxford University on January 30 1589/90, obtained his BA on December 6 1593, his MA on February 23 1598/9 and his DD on March 2 1621/2.. [1]
He was elected Provost of Oriel College Oxford on June 29 1621 [2], Pro-Vice-Chancellor in September 1642 [1], and Vice Chancellor of Oxford University on February 7 1643. [3]
Along with his academic career, he was a cleric in the Church of England and held appointments as follows: [1]
