Biography
Sophie was one of twin born on 26 December 1847 in Albany, Western Australia.[1]
On 4 Apr 1871 she married Sir Alexander Thomas Cockburn Campbell in Albany.
He was Resident Magistrate in Albany and he died on 23 April 1871 a few days after the wedding.[2]
His son was married to her sister.
After her husband's death she continued to live on his property in Albany but eventually sold it to Lord Brassey and moved to Perth and lived on Adelaide Tce. She became known as Dowager Lady Cockburn-Campbell.
She was ill for some weeks before her death.
She was buried in East Perth Cemetery on 11/9/1890. Cemetery records have her date of birth as 15/4/1841.
