Robert Henry Quirk, a well known member of the printing trade, died on Saturday April 3, 1943 after a brief illness. He was in his 53rd year. Born at Quyon, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Quirk. He was educated there and came to Ottawa 31 years ago. Since then he had been a compositor and for the past 28 years was employed at the Mutual Press. He was a member of the Ottawa Typographical Local, No. 102. Mr. Quirk was married twice. His first wife, the former Elizabeth Lafleur, died In 1933. In 1935 he married the former Lillian Meyers of Ottawa. Surviving are his widow; five daughters, Mrs. Kelvin O'Connor, and Sergeant Winifred Quirk, CWAC, of Ottawa, the Misses Marion and Isabel, at home, and Mrs. Willard Blanchfleld, of Otter Lake; four sisters, Mrs. E. P. Clifford. Mrs. Katie Kavanagh, Mrs. Leo. A. Levesque, and Mrs. T. J. Hickson, all of Ottawa, and a brother, George Quirk, of Ottawa. One grandchild survives. The body was resting at the Whelan Funeral Home, 515 Cooper street from where the funeral was held Monday, to St Patrick's Church, for requiem high mass. Msgr. George D. Prudhomme met the body at the door, and Rev. G. Fogarty chanted mass. Interment was in Notre Dame cemetery, Rev. W. J. Radley saying the prayers.[1]
