Emma Rule daughter of John and Jenny was baptised 23 Oct 1840 in St Keverne, Cornwall, England [1]

She married John Tonkin 16 Apr 1866 in St Keverne [2]

Emma Tonkin age 33 with her husband John 34 bootmaker and their children Jane 7, John 5 and Bessie 1 emigrated to New Zealand on the Waitangi. arriving in Auckland on 20 Nov 1874 [3]

Emma Tonkin died age 88 [4] and was buried in the Waikaraka Cemetery in Auckland [5]

LATE MRS E TONKIN
Mrs Emma Tonkin, widow of the late Mr John Tonkin, died on Sunday at the age of 88. Mr Tonkin who died 18 months ago, and Mrs Tonkin both came of long-lived Cornish families. They arrived in New Zealand with their three children 50 years ago on the Waitangi.
Until recently Mrs Tonkin had enjoyed good health. She is survived by one son, Mr John Tonkin, Auckland, and two daughters, Mrs C.H. Hooper and Mrs W. Poad, Ponsonby. There are nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. [6]
