Biography

Thomas was born about 1748. He was the son of Thomas Worsley and Elizabeth Lister, but they didn't marry until 1757. He passed away in 1774, aged 26. [1]

WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 13TH OF DECEMBER 1778
IN THE 67TH YEAR OF HIS AGE.
ALSO TO THE MEMORY OF
ELIZABETH WORSLEY, RELICT OF THE SAID THOMAS WORSLEY ESQUIRE,
WHO DIED ON THE 19TH OF NOVEMBER 1809,
IN THE 82ND YEAR OF HER AGE.
THEIR REMAINS ARE DEPOSITED IN THE FAMILY VAULT
ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE CHURCH,
ALONG WITH THEIR SECOND DAUGHTER AMELIA,
WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 17TH OF APRIL 1820,
IN THE 68TH YEAR OF HER AGE.
THEIR ELDEST SON THOMAS WORSLEY ESQUIRE,
DIED ON THE 28TH OF MAY 1774,
AGED 26 YEARS,
AND FREDERICK THEIR FOURTH SON, ON THE 4TH OF JUNE 1770,
AGED 8 YEARS;
THEIR REMAINS ARE DEPOSITED WITHIN THE CHURCH
NEAR TO THIS PLACE.
HENRY, AGED 6 YEARS; CHARLES 2; SEPTIMUS 9;
ELIZABETH, THEIR ELDEST DAUGHTER 10;
AND SOPHIA, AT 10 MONTHS,
DIED IN LONDON,
AND WERE BURIED IN THE PARISH OF ST. MARY-LE-BONE.
THE REVEREND GEORGE WORSLEY, RECTOR OF STONEGRAVE,
AND THIRD SON OF THE SAID THOMAS AND ELIZABETH WORSLEY,
DIED ON THE 4TH OF FEBRUARY 1815,
IN THE 53RD YEAR OF HIS AGE,
AND HIS REMAINS ARE DEPOSITED THERE.
EDWARD WORSLEY OF HOVINGHAM HALL ESQUIRE,
THEIR SECOND, AND ONLY SURVIVING SON,
AND FRANCES THEIR THIRD AND ONLY SURVIVING DAUGHTER,
HAVE CAUSED THIS TABLET TO BE INSCRIBED,
ANNO DOMINI 1824.
