His father James moved the young family from Tennessee to Ohio when George was a very young boy, part of a large family migration including George's grandfather John McDonald I and his uncle John McDonald II, and family.
George was married to Malinda Ferguson[3][4][5][6]
in Franklin County, Ohio[3][4][5]
on 22 Dec 1825[5]
(registered in 1826[4][5]).
George was a farmer[1] in Madison County,[1] Ohio.
In old age they lived in London,[1] Madison County, Ohio.
George was widowed on 08 Mar 1860[6] and buried Malinda at Oak Hill Cemetery in London.[6]
George died of pneumonia[1] at the age of 79[1] on 28 May 1883[2][7]
in London.[1]
