Biography
Son of Harry C. Appelgate & Mary Andrews. (Last name also spelled Applegate, especially in newspapers.)
WW1 Veteran. US Army Air Service, 106th Aero squadron. Rank: Private.
Everett was convicted of murdering his wife, Ada, via arsenic poisoning, with Mary Frances Creighton as his accomplice. It is said that Everett and Mary were lovers, but that he had moved on to her daughter, Ruth. Mary claimed she killed Ada because she wanted Everett to marry her daughter. They were both executed via electric chair at Sing Sing Prison on 16 Jul 1936. Mary was executed first, Everett, 9 minutes later. He professed innocence until the end.
