Biography

William was born 6 January 1701 in Stonington, New London, Connecticut, the son of William Greene and an unknown mother.^[1] Some time before 1729, he married Elizabeth (surname unknown), probably in New London, Connecticut. They had three sons:

1. Joseph, born 16 July 1729 in Preston, New London, Connecticut^[2]
2. William, born 23 September 1732 in Voluntown, New London, Connecticut^[3]
3. Benjamin, born 15 March 1735 in Voluntown, New London, Connecticut^[4]

The three sons are named in their grandfather's will:

"Item: I give to my Two grandsons Wm. & Benjamin Children of my Son Wm. Dec'd. Three Shillings, each of Them, my Grandson Joseph there [sic] elder Brother I have this Day given him a Deed of gift of Ten Acres of Land, all which is the Whole [of] there [sic] Portion out of my Estate."^[5]

William died before 22 August 1764 when his estate passed probate.^[6]
