Lady Margaret Bourke was born at Kreny, Denmark. She was the daughter of Ulrick Bourke, 1st Marquess of Clanricarde and Lady Anne Compton.
She married, firstly, Charles MacCarty, Viscount Muskerry, son of Donough MacCarty, 1st Earl of Clancarty and Eleanor Butler, from 2 March 1659/60 to May 1661.
