Biography

Laura Catherine Neal was born 27 Dec 1912 in Darke County, Ohio; ^{[1] [2]} she was the daughter Charles E. Neal and Anna E. LNU.^[3]

In 1920,^[3] Laura C. Neal (age 7, born Ohio) was living in Allen Township, Darke County, Ohio in the household of her father, Charles E. Neal (age 50, born Ohio), with her mother, Anna E. Neal (age 43, born Ohio), and her Neal siblings, all born in Ohio (age, sex): i) Ellen O. (19, F), ii) Mabel J. (16, F), iii) Willis (14, M), iv) Lee Roy (11, M), v) Cary F. (4, M), vi) Cora G. (4, F), vii) Ethel F. (0, F). Charles' occupation was a farmer. Of note, on the same census enumeration sheet^[3] was the family of Tobias Hiestand (age 70, born Ohio), which included Ralph E. Hiestand (age 29), whom Laura would marry in 1933 in California. As such, the Neals and the Hiestands were neighbors, and Laura and Ralph probably knew one another, even though there was a substantial difference in age between the two of them.

In 1930,^[4] Laura C. Neal (age 17, born Ohio) was living in Allen Township, Darke County, Ohio in the household of her father, Charles E. Neal (age 54, born Ohio), with her mother, Anna Neal (age 53, born Ohio), and her Neal siblings, all born in Ohio (age, sex): i) Cary Forest (14, M), ii) Cory Gertrude (14, F), Ethel Florence (11, F). Charles' occupation was a farmer. Of note, on the same census enumeration sheet,^[4] the next family listed was that of Tobias Hiestand (age 80, born Ohio), who would become her father-in-law in 3 years when she married Tobias' son, Ralph Waldo Emerson Hiestand.

On 8 Dec 1933 in Los Angeles, California, ^[5] Laura Catherine Neal (age 21, born Ohio) married Ralph W. E. Hiestand (age 43, born Ohio).

In 1938,^[6] Ralph W. Hiestand (occupation Rancher) and his wife, Mrs. Laura C. Hiestand (occupation Housewife) both registered to vote in De Luz, San Diego County, California; they were registered Democrats.

In 1940,^[7] Laura Hiestand (age 27, born Ohio) was living in De Luz, Fallbrook Judicial Township, San Diego County, California in the household of her husband, Ralph W. Hiestand (age 49, born Ohio). In 1935, they had both resided in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. Ralph's occupation was a farmer.

On 13 Mar 1944,^{[8] [9]} Laura Hiestand's husband, Ralph Waldo Emerson Hiestand (age 53), died in Alhambra Hospital, Alhambra, Los Angeles County, California, and he was buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Los Angeles County, California. ^[10] Laura provided the information for his death certificate.

On 14 Nov 1949 in Mason County, Kentucky,^[11] Laura C. Hiestand married William A. Wigton.

Laura Catherine (Neal) Wigton (age 88) died on 28 Jul 2001 in Westerville, Delaware County, Ohio.^[2] She was widowed at the time of her death. She was born on 27 Dec 1912 in Darke County, Ohio. She was buried in the Sunbury Memorial Park, Sunbury, Delaware County, Ohio.^[12]
