J. Lionel Gerard Albert was born on 18 May 1922 in Van Buren, Aroostook County, Maine. He is the son, and fifth child, of Irene Albert, a garage keeper, and Catherine Morneault.[1]
About the beginning of August 1922, the family moved to Grand Isle in Aroostook County, where Irene took on a job as a painter. Lionel became ill soon thereafter.[2]
Lionel passed away from cholera at age three months on 13 September 1922 at his home in Grand Isle, Aroostook County, Maine. He was buried on 15 September at Mount Carmel Cemetery[2] in Grand Isle.
The J. first name on his birth certificate most likely stood for Joseph.
