Biography

Jacob was born about 1567.

1604 Lease for 118 years of lands at Wood Quay from the City of Dublin to Jacob Newman, 18 January 1604 (MS 36,314 /1) in what came to be known as Newman's Tower (Previously Buttevant's Tower) [1] in the reign of James I, (reign 1603 - 1625) he resided on the Wood Quay, Dublin. & [2]

He m1). Margaret _?.

He m2). Rose Barry, daughter of James Barry, an Alderman of Dublin.

In 1626 Feoffment in relation to premises known as ‘Isolt’s Tower’ [Iseult’s Tower] in the city of Dublin, between Jacob Newman and Richard Barry. [2]

The O'Hara publication also lists other Newman property and inheritance transactions [2]

In 1629 he became Clerk of the Rolls, in the Office of the Court of Chancery. [1] & [3]

Jacob died in 1634 and was buried on 9 January 1634 in St. John's, Dublin, Ireland. [4]

In the Index to wills, 1634 he is listed as gent, of Dublin. [5] & [6]
