Robert Campbell was a farmer and sometime justice of the peace. He lived in Dublin Township of Franklin County, Pennsylvania and is believed to have been married twice, first to Mary C. Jones and second to Jane Ramsey. Sources for the marriages have not been provided. He is first found by name in the 1850 census, when he was 55 years old with children ages 8 through 21 ...
1850 Census of Dublin Tshp., Fulton Co., PA, p. 83, 27 Sep
Robert Campbell died, it is believed, on 15 November 1871. He lies at rest at the Knobville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Knobville, Fulton County.[4]
While the biography on Robert's Findagrave memorial claims that his father was named James, that same memorial links him instead as a son of Thomas Campbell. Robert also has sometimes been confused with a Robert Campbell who was born about 1798 and lived in neighboring Franklin County, Pennsylvania. While this Robert is found in Fulton County every census year between 1850 and 1870, the other Robert Campbell is found in Franklin County every census year between 1850 and 1880.
That memorial also claims a daughter Elizabeth or Eliza married to John Findley Waddell. However, Eliza was born in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, where yet another Robert Campbell lived when she was born while this Robert Campbell lived in Fulton County, Pennsylvania.
