Biography

Joseph was a paper manufacturer, based in Henry Street, Limerick, according to the 1848 marriage certificate of his daughter Jeane Eliza, which does not make it clear that he had died twelve years earlier. He is listed as a painter and glazier in Pigot's 1824 directory. He and his sons ran a painting and glazing business in Henry Street for many years.

The records of the Commissioners of St Michael's Parish include a Mr Parker in Henry Street in 1823/4.

Joseph Parker could have been a brother of Thomas and Craven Parker of Briska, who were also (perhaps belatedly) fathering children in the first decade of the nineteenth century.

What is the significance of the fact that Joseph and his wife Mary had two grandchildren baptised "Robert Henry" - a Parker and a Ranalow?

In 1829,^[1] Joseph Parker, printer [sic], with a place of abode at Henry-street in the co. of the city of Limerick, registered a freehold comprising a house and stable at Henry-street. The landlord was R. O'C. Newenham, Esq.-4713; the value was 40 shillings; the lease was for the lives of Joseph Parker, Thomas Parker & R. Parker; and the date of registry was 3 Sep 1817.^[2] The lives were probably those of Joseph's infant sons.

DEATH: Parker, Joseph, Henry Street, Limerick Chronicle 29 October 1836, of typhus fever.
