Biography

Willard Solomon Greenlaw was born in 1853 & probably at Princeton, Washington, Maine, since the 1860 U.S. Census shows his family living there. He was the son of John Alfred Greenlaw & Deborah Libby Pineo[1][2]

On the 1860 U.S. Census for Princeton, Washington, Maine, Willard was 7 yrs. old. His father, Alfred Greenlaw, was 30 yrs. old and working as a milkman. His mother, Deborah, was 27 yrs. old. He had a 4 yr. old brother, Eugene, and a 1 yr. old sister, Carrie V.[3]

On the 1870 U.S. Census for for Princeton, Maine, Willard was 17 yrs. old. His father, John, was 40 yrs. old and a laborer. His mother, Deborah, was 38 yrs. old. His siblings on this census were: Carrie V. - 11, Roscoe A. - 9, Eber F. - 7, Hiram E.- 5, Letta E.- 5, & Mary S.- 1.[4]

On the 1880 U.S. Census for Auburn, Androscoggin, Maine, was 27 yrs. old and working as a laborer.[5]

Willard Greenlaw married Annette Littlefield on 2 Dec1880.[6]

On the 1900 U.S. Census for Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts, Willard, Annette & family were then living in Lynn, Massachusetts. Willard was 47 yrs. old and working as a grocer. Annette was 50 yrs. old. Their children on this census were: Guy L. 18 yrs. old, Leroy (or Jeroy) 17 yrs. old, and Earle S. 7 yrs. old.[7]

On the 1910 U.S. Census for Lynn, Massachusetts, Willard was 57 yrs. old & a "shop worker at a grocery" store. His wife, Annette was 60 yrs. old. Their son Earl S. was 24 yrs. old & working as book keeper at a shoe factory.[8]

On the 1920 U.S. Census for Lynn, Massachusetts, Willard was 67 yrs. old & working as a shipper in shoe manufacturing. His wife, Annette was 69 yrs. old. They had 6 boarders living at their home.[9]

Willard Greenlaw died on 20 April 1930 in Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts. He was 76 yrs. old. He is buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, Massachusetts.[10][11]
